A Canadian Armed Forces member who went missing while deployed in Latvia was found dead on Friday.
Warrant Officer George Hohl was reported missing three days prior, on Tuesday, while deployed with Operation Reassurance. He was a vehicle technician from 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron based in Edmonton, Alta.
“At this time, there is no indication this incident poses an increased threat to our deployed members’ safety and security,” the CAF said in a news release , adding that the national military police are supporting Latvian authorities as they investigate Hohl’s death.
Hohl was as part of an aviation battalion under a NATO-aligned, multinational deployment of troops meant to help deter Russian aggression in eastern Europe.
He had served with the Canadian military for almost 2
