Lone actors biggest threat to G7 summit security: threat assessment

The sizable security around the G7 summit in Alberta last June was enough to dissuade extremists from launching an attack on the gathering, according to a threat assessment, though lone actors were considered more likely to target nearby areas.

The threat assessment, which is partly redacted and marked as “confidential” and “for Canadian eyes only,” was produced by the Integrated Threat Assessment Centre ahead of the three-day gathering of world leaders this past June in Kananaskis. It was acquired via an access to information request to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).
