As an “old dog,” I’ve been hesitant to broach the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) here.

After all, wouldn’t my “young-pup” son who just earned a computer science degree and his older brother, who also works in the tech industry, be more fit for such a conversation?

Perhaps we can each contribute worthily to the discussion in different ways, but undoubtedly, I’ll be focusing on how technology can affect our souls. And recently, an article in the Epoch Times, “Godfather of AI’ Warns Superintelligent Machines Could Replace Humanity,” sparked some new insight for me.

In the piece, Geoffrey Hinton, the Nobel Prize-winning computer scientist who pioneered neural networks, warned about AI’s concerning capabilities, admitting regret for not having thought of these implications sooner.
