A 36-year-old California woman who had become lost in a dense Otsego County forest during a YouTube survival challenge was rescued Saturday by first responders, police said.
According to a social media post from Michigan State Police's Seventh District, the woman became lost Friday evening but was not reported missing until 5 a.m. Saturday.
State police searched Pigeon Run State Forest, which was still damaged from a recent ice storm, with a helicopter and K9 units.
A video clip shows a woman in a bright jacket waving to a helicopter overhead and the pilot guiding units on the ground to her location in the forest.
Around 10:40 a.m. Saturday a state trooper located the woman and first responders were able to walk her out of the woods safely, police said.
