CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person is dead following a single-vehicle interstate crash in Clarendon County on Saturday afternoon.

Master Trooper Brandon Bolt with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. near mile marker 114 on I-95. Bolt said a 2006 Nissan pickup truck was on the interstate when it traveled off the left side of the road and hit a tree. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and died.

Bolt said the crash remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The Clarendon County Coroner's Office said it is still notifying next-of-kin but confirmed that the victim was 79 and from Florida. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
