MEMPHIS, Tenn. --- An 18-year-old is charged with attempted first-degree murder after police say he was involved in gunning down a person selling drugs in Frayser.

Xzavier Gray was arrested Sunday. Bond has not been set.

The victim told police that on July 20, he was in a car on Stonehurst Street, facilitating a marijuana sale with a female acquaintance he met on social media.

He said a red SUV drove up and four to six armed males got out. They pointed their guns at him and told him not to reach for anything. He reached for his gun.

They opened fire as he drove away, wrecking his car in the process. Police later found him with bullet wounds, still inside his damaged Honda Accord.
