BEAUMONT, Texas — Police have identified the victim of a possible hit-and-run incident after a body was found in the grassy median of Highway 69 South near Amoco Road on Sunday morning.

Beaumont investigators have identified the victim as Vinnie Sang Nguyen, 27, who was experiencing homelessness.

Officers responded to a welfare check just after 9 a.m. after a citizen reported finding a body in the highway median.

When they arrived, investigators determined that the death appeared to be the result of a hit-and-run.

The investigation remains active, with authorities working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police have not released additional details about the victim or potential suspects.
