The Rufford Ford is currently closed to all traffic
Nottinghamshire County Council has spent just over £35,000 on Rufford Ford whilst the area has been shut following an emergency police closure. The authority has had to erect new signage around the area and is still hiring concrete barriers to stop drivers going through the ford - though one vehicle managed to smash through them and cause £2,600 worth of damage.
An emergency closure was ordered by Nottinghamshire Police in December 2022 of Rufford Ford, situated along Rufford Lane near Ollerton. The ford became something of an internet sensation on YouTube as millions watched videos of drivers attempting to cross the ford when water levels were too high.
Crowds began gathering at the mouth of the ford at weekends to watch the
