Maryland Gov. Wes Moore (D), seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party, on Sunday ruled out running for president in the 2028 election. Moore — who has emerged as a formidable opponent of the president in recent weeks — was asked in an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” whether he plans on running for reelection in 2026 and whether he would commit to serving a full term, if reelected, amid questions of a possible 2028 run for president.

“Yes, I'll be serving a full term,” Moore said in the interview. “I'm excited about reelection.
