Classes at Roxbury Elementary School at 6795 Solon Blvd. in Solon are canceled through Sept. 10.

The temporary closure comes after elevated levels of asbestos were found in a classroom at the school on Sept. 6 in an air sample, according to a statement sent to families. Solon School District Superintendent Fred Bolden and principal Mariann Moeschberger said the findings were limited to a single classroom, but the safety of staff and parents remains the priority.

"We received results yesterday from environmental testing that was conducted throughout the building," the statement read. "One sample in one classroom initially showed an elevated level of asbestos.
