A 44-year-old man driving a moped on W Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway was killed early Sunday after crashing, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Just after 9:30 a.m. the man was travelling eastbound on W Irlo Bronson just east of Four Winds Boulevard in the outside lane and attempted to change lanes but lost control of the 2024 Zhilong Angel moped, FHP said.

It is unclear what caused the crash but the man laid the moped down after losing control, FHP said.

The Davenport-native was not wearing a helmet, the agency said.

He was taken to Osceola Regional hospital where he died, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.
