The Miami Hurricanes will have a September matchup with a ranked in-state opponent . It just might not be the one fans expected.

Miami stayed put at No. 5 in this week’s AP poll, and its upcoming opponent, South Florida, entered the top 25 with an upset win over then-No. 13 Florida in Gainesville on Saturday .

UM also ranked sixth in the USA Today coaches poll and No. 6 in the FWAA-NFF Super 16.

The Hurricanes, who beat overmatched Bethune-Cookman on Saturday , spent a second consecutive week in the top five for only the third time since 2005. They previously stuck in the top five for longer than a week in 2017 and last year.
