South Carolina nor Clemson looked very clean doing it on Sept. 6, but each won in their second games of the season.

The polls noticed.

The Gamecocks (2-0) and Tigers (1-1) each fell in the Associated Press Top 25 released on Sept. 7, USC down one spot to No. 11 and Clemson down four to No. 12.

South Carolina overcame a lengthy weather delay and defeated South Carolina State 38-10 , while Clemson trailed by 16 against Troy before rallying to win 27-16 .

USC leapfrogged Clemson in the USA Today/Coaches' Top 25, rising to 10th as the Tigers slipped to 11.

Each begins conference play this week, the Tigers traveling to Georgia Tech for a noon kickoff on Sept. 13. The Gamecocks host Vanderbilt at 7:45 p.m.
