Broadway's revival of "Cabaret" is closing early as star Billy Porter withdraws from the show while recovering from sepsis.

Porter was slated to perform as the Emcee for 13 weeks until Oct. 19, opposite Marisha Wallace as Sally Bowles. The production has now set its final performance date for Sept. 21.

Porter had to withdraw from the show "due to a serious case of sepsis," the production said in a statement on Instagram Sept. 7.

"His doctors are confident that he will make a full recovery but have advised him to maintain a restful schedule," the statement read.

TODAY.com has reached out to representatives for Porter for further comment on his health.
