WILDWOOD — Many people have a hard time getting motivated to get much accomplished on a weekend morning.
Not Emma Vendt.
The Marquette senior scored the only goal in the Mustangs’ 8 a.m. Lafayette Tournament semifinal game against Westminster and then tallied two more as well as a 1 v 1 goal beyond regulation to lead Marquette to a 3-2 win over Summit in the 11 a.m. tourney championship.
“It’s been a good morning,” Vendt said. “I got my first one in and then I was like, ‘All right, I want more. I’m hungry. Give me more goals.’ ”
Vendt was the Mustangs’ leading scorer each of the last two seasons with a combined 35 goals and 81 points, including 24 goals and 58 points last fall.
She has picked that pace right back up to start this season with four goals and 11 points in the first four
