AMSTERDAM — An ordinance proposed to overhaul a section of city code that has perplexed both residents and city staff has been withdrawn, as officials debate further updates to address concerns surrounding fees, penalties and other details.
The Common Council on Tuesday withdrew the ordinance proposed to amend city code chapter 156 requiring owners of residential and commercial properties who live outside of the area or that are “not a natural person” to designate a local registered agent to receive any code violations, legal notices or other official correspondence from the city related to their properties.
