Regarding property tax fixes in Ohio, first of all, we need to fix levies, since currently all voters get to vote on property-tax levies but renters aren’t directly impacted by the results. Renters need to pay any property tax increases directly: If they rent a 2,000-square-foot place, then they pay the same as the owner of a 2,000-square-foot condo would pay.

Secondly, schools need to go back to the basics and only teach reading, writing and math, plus typing, computers, and physical education -- that’s it. Other courses can be taught, but the parents will have to pay for it. Parents must be accountable for the financial impact of raising their children. No more free food or higher education.
