Man On Fire claimed victory in Race 2 at Queensland's Q-Straight track last Monday night.

Leading from start to finish, the greyhound clocked the 300 metres in 16.42 seconds.

It was a race like any other, but carried the unusual name "Save Greyhound Racing In Tasmania".

Similarly named races have been run at other meetings in Queensland and New South Wales.

It is an insight into a nationwide campaign mobilised since the Tasmanian Liberal government's decision last month to legislate a ban on greyhound racing.

Attendees and participants at interstate meets have also donned yellow caps branded with messages of support for Tasmanian greyhound racing.

A Facebook group called "Save Tasmanian Greyhound Racing" has more than 3,500 members.
