LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - Officials with Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed a pedestrian was hit and killed in Leon County Saturday night.

Tallahassee local Frederick White said he saw the man in the road following the incident.

“I saw the pedestrian lying in the middle of the road and it was awkward because this is the second time this year that an accident happened in the same exact spot,” White said.

Reports show that an unknown vehicle struck a 47-year-old man from Tallahassee in the eastbound lane of Blountstown Highway. FHP said the car left the area.

The pedestrian was declared dead at the scene. FHP said an investigation is in progress to locate the vehicle.

“This is a family-oriented area, so when you see things like that, it bothers you deeply,” the local added.
