ST. LOUIS -- Nearly perfect for five innings and unhittable for 5 1/3 innings before tiring in the sixth, Sonny Gray broke his first two-game losing streak of 2025 and dealt a blow to the Giants’ playoff chances on Sunday.

Gray, who came into the day riding losses to the Pirates and Athletics, threw 5 1/3 innings of no-hit baseball, and the Cardinals used four walks and two singles to generate four runs in the fifth inning of a 4-3 win over the Giants at Busch Stadium.

With their fourth win in five games and Sunday’s Mets loss (76-67), the Cardinals (72-72) pulled within 4 1/2 games of the final Wild Card spot in the National League .
