FOXBOROUGH - As promised, the Patriots defense was aggressive.

They got to Geno Smith with a variety of blitzes and pressures. They also got to him without the benefit of extra rushers. In all, they sacked the Las Vegas quarterback four times with Harold Landry (2.5 sacks) leading the charge.

The trouble was, they were aggressive to a fault. There were several key points during the 20-13 loss that Smith beat the blitz for long gains.

The first time was a third down in the opening series, with Smith hitting a wide open Tre Tucker with a 26-yard TD pass. Another time, on third down, Carlton Davis III blitzed, and Smith found Jakobi Meyers - the player Davis left - for a first down.
