As the United States recently decided to review its approximately 55 million visa holders for violations, which includes travelers with tourist visas , it seems the country is cracking down on who it allows to visit. The move also comes at a time when the USA is experiencing a significant decline in tourism; visits by overseas travelers in the first half of 2025 have dropped by around 8.2%, according to Oxford Economics , and a 2024 Economic Impact Trends Report by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) noted that the U.S. is the only country out of 184 around the world to experience a slump in international tourist spending.
