Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, visited Spruce Meadows as its royal patron this weekend, taking in the Masters competition while also taking the time to meet with charities supported by its Leg Up Foundation.

The Duchess arrived Friday for the start of the 50th anniversary Masters tournament — her first trip to Calgary since assuming the patronage earlier this year.

There, she toured the sprawling grounds of Spruce Meadows before stopping in on a fundraising luncheon, visiting artists and vendors and cheering on riders in the ATCO Six Bar competition.
