CLARENCE, N.Y. — A house fire in Clarence caused more than $650,000 in damage Saturday evening after flames tore through the roof of a residence.

A 911 call reported a bedroom fire on Saturday evening, according to the Amherst Central Fire Alarm Office. The Clarence Fire Department arrived on the scene at 4995 Bank St. within five minutes and reported flames coming from the roof at 5:56 p.m.

Water was on the fire within 10 minutes of dispatch, and the fire was placed under control at 6:31 p.m.

Damage was later estimated at $510,000 to the structure and $150,000 to the contents.

The scene was turned over to Erie County and Clarence Fire inspectors. The cause is under investigation.
