(FOX40.COM) -- The cost to obtain a Concealed Carry Weapon permit is on the rise in California. Nearly every sheriff's office in the state attributes changes to CCW fees to Senate Bill 2 on their websites.

For longtime firearms instructors like Ted Lidie, the costs are getting harder to ignore.

"We have to talk about it in class and nobody's happy. Unfortunately, a lot of my students go to class before they pay the fees, so they're shocked by it," Northern Firearms Instruction Chief Instructor Ted Lidie said.

FOX40 compiled data from six counties in the region about the approximate cost for first-time applicants to obtain a CCW permit. The numbers reflect an initial fee to apply, an issuance fee, a background check, and 16 hours of required firearms training. • Sacramento County: appr
