A small plane traveling from Santa Paula to Pacoima made an emergency landing Sunday in a Valencia watermelon field after experiencing engine failure.
Authorities were called just before 5:10 p.m. to a field near the 5 Freeway and Six Flags Magic Mountain, where a single-engine plane made an emergency landing after experiencing engine failure, said Deputy Miesha McClendon with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The plane landed safely, and its pilot and two passengers, including a child, escaped with no reports of injuries, McClendon said.
The plane’s tail number showed it’s a Piper model PA-28-140.
Pilot Anastasia Vournas noticed the plane’s engine sputtering and losing power before it gave out, she told independent video news agency Key News Network. At that point, Vournas
