Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin hit back at the booing crowds at the World Wide Technology Raceway after winning the NASCAR Cup Series Enjoy Illinois 300.

The 44-year-old driver won the race after starting from pole position and was closely followed by Chase Briscoe and Chase Elliott in second and third, respectively. The victory for Hamlin puts him at the top of the playoff standings and sees him progress through to the Round of 12.

"Yeah, it's so big for everyone at Toyota and Joe Gibbs Racing. The Toyota was just great there at the end," the 23XI Racing co-owner explained after the race.

"And so happy to get this victory and my dad's not feeling well at home. So just shoutout to him, the whole family's here, so fantastic day and it couldn't be better. ... Just step up.
