The Honolulu Fire Department rescued a hiker who fell ill Sunday morning on the Makapuu Trail in Hawaii Kai.

HFD received a 911 call at 10:11 a.m. and dispatched seven units with 19 personnel, according to a news release. Firefighters reached the man, described as being in his 30s, near the tidepools at 10:41 a.m., where they provided medical care.

He was airlifted to a nearby landing zone and transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 11:22 a.m. No firefighter injuries were reported.
