Satire falls far short of the true abomination

Roger Scherer (Letters, Aug. 22) became enraged over a political satire. All this anger over something that is going on right now and to bring it to our attention. Book banning of any sort is an affront to our First Amendment rights in the Constitution.

I am glad Scherer paid attention to the satire, but he missed the point altogether.

Books are used to educate us all on subject matters of all different types. Woke has nothing to do with being against God but refers to progressive thought on many subjects. Think about Mary Magdalene — “You without sin cast the first stone.’’ That was pretty woke for that time. As was much of what Christ did by teaching to love one another instead of preaching fire and brimstone.
