NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - It’s been nearly two years since deadly tornadoes hit Nashville in December 2023, and now, one church is starting to pave its way home.

Saturdays at Sabbath Day Church of God usually ended with a dinner after service, but on December 9, 2023, Laquinta Obaidy couldn’t make it in from Clarksville.

“I was sick," Obaidy said. “So that evening we didn’t have the dinner that we normally would have had.”

She didn’t know that being sick may have saved her life.

“I just remember getting a phone call from one of my church members and she was like, ‘The church is gone.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’” Obaidy said.
