Rick McCormick is on a personal mission.

The Russellville resident is a Navy Veteran, enlisting after growing up in a military family. His father served for more than two decades, and his uncle was killed in Vietnam.

“I believe in veterans,” McCormick said.

After serving in Washington’s honor guard and completing 300 to 400 military funerals, McCormick knew the weight of honoring veterans in death. That’s why it still haunts him that his father never received the honors he earned.

“That’s the least I felt the military, or somebody, could do was give him the proper funeral that he deserves,” he said.
