The son of accused cop killer Dezi Freeman has broken his silence, urging his father to “come back” and “turn himself in” after nearly two weeks on the run.
Mr Freeman — a self-proclaimed “sovereign citizen” — is accused of fatally shooting Senior Constable Vadim de Waart-Hottart and Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson while executing a search warrant at a Porepunkah property on August 26.
The 56-year-old has not been seen since, sparking a major manhunt in Mount Buffalo National Park, with more than 450 officers scouring the dense bushland, caves and mineshafts for the alleged fugitive.
Mr Freeman’s oldest son, Koah, expressed his condolences to the colleagues, friends and families of the slain officers, and pleaded with his father to surrender.
