Journalist Pablo Torre recently dropped a shocking report suggesting that the Los Angeles Clippers may have bent the rules of the NBA’s salary cap. Torre claimed that the franchise set up a $28 million “no-show” endorsement deal for Kawhi Leonard.

According to Torre, the Clippers did so through a now-bankrupt tree-planting company. The arrangement raised serious questions about whether the team created hidden incentives for Leonard outside of league regulations.

The consequences of such an accusation could be massive. NBA insider Sam Amick explained that if the league determines the Clippers knowingly worked around the salary cap, then the league could go as far as voiding Leonard’s entire contract.
