Ryanair bosses are urging travellers to be aware of their new boarding rules, which will begin in November. The budget airline is ditching physical boarding passes in favour of a totally digital system meaning passengers will no longer be able to use paper print-outs ‌

From November 3, passengers have to present their boarding passes from the Ryanair app . The company hopes to save around 300 tonnes of paper annually by making the switch to digital but there have been fears the move could cause issues for older people who do not use the internet or have smartphones. ‌

Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary has now issued guidance to ease passenger concerns about the plan to make smartphone boarding passes mandatory. ‌
