Two men have been charged for allegedly threatening a 13-year-old boy with a machete before steaking his e-bike in the Illawarra region - just days after a violent machete attack in Melbourne left two teens dead.

On Monday, NSW Police released a statement which said two men, aged 20 and 23, had been charged after allegedly threatening the boy over the weekend.

About 8.50pm on Saturday, police were called to Shellharbour Road, Warilla, near Barnes Street, following reports of an armed robbery.

Officers were told a group of teenagers were approached by two men riding e-scooters, who threatened a 13-year-old boy with a machete before stealing his e-bike and leaving the scene.

Following inquiries, about 10.30pm the same day police attended a home on Fleetwood Crescent, Warilla.
