In an almost daily exercise of reading the news and digesting a broad swath of commentary, conservative and liberal, on the events of the day I am constantly in amazement that Donald Trump and his Administration can still muster 35-40% approval ratings in this country. His nonstop manufacturing of emergencies to justify unprecedented overreach in executive power has reached epic proportions.

The latest, of course, is the emergency in Washington, DC that necessitated calling up the National Guard.
