Police and paramedics have closed off a stretch of Princes Street in an emergency incident.

An image shared with Edinburgh Live shows a cordon erected from the corner of Frederick Street and stretching towards the Apple Store opposite the entrance to Waverley Station.

A local reported seeing officers with blue gloves moving back and forth from a shop front at around 9am on Monday September 8.

It is understood one lane of Princes Street east bound has also been closed by officers.

Edinburgh Travel News took to X to alert those in the area to disruption.

They said: "East end Princes Street.

"There's been some kind of incident where police have attended outside the Apple Store, heading eastbound and blocking one lane. Traffic is slow as result, from Fredrick Street.
