HOUSTON (KIAH) — For the second time in a week, a truck hit the Houston Avenue Bridge, according to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The most recent incident happened Saturday night, causing the eastbound lanes to be closed for several hours.

Earlier this week, TxDOT said the Houston Avenue Bridge was hit 67 times this year, not including this most recent event. In effort to resolve the issue, TxDOT is working on the I-10 White Oak Bayou Project, which includes removing the bridge by the end of 2027.

NOTE: The plan is to raise the interstate over Houston Avenue by 2028.
