A killer drug addict who stabbed an unconscious man to death has been locked up for life.

Simon Thomason dialled 999 and told an operator "he’s cold, he’s dead, duck" after fatally wounding Anthony Tipper.

The 52-year-old claimed he had simply found the victim unresponsive at a flat but police became suspicious and arrested him.

Detectives later discovered that the killer had enlisted the help of Dale Lynch who helped him get rid of 'crucial evidence'.

Thomason was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 19 years, after being convicted of murder following a two-week trial at Derby Crown Court.

Lynch, 32, of Arkwright Street, Derby, was jailed for three years after being found guilty of assisting an offender.

They were both locked up on September 4, Derbyshire Constabulary said.
