GLENDALE, Calif. (KCAL/KCBS) - Two men accused of stealing $60,000 in wedding gifts from a California banquet hall as the broom and groom celebrated are now in custody.

Police say Armean Shirehjini and Andranik Avetisyan snatched a gift collection box from the wedding of Nadeen and George Farahat last Monday in Glendale. Surveillance video from the venue showed a man grabbing the box and running from the reception area while guests celebrated and danced.

Police Sgt. Jose Barajas says Shirehjini was the man who stole the gift box, and Avetisyan was the getaway driver. Their arrests were announced Saturday.

Barajas says the surveillance video was pivotal in helping detectives track down the suspects. Search warrants were executed at their homes, where police say they found $10,000 in cash
