WILKES-BARRE TWP. — Police in Wilkes-Barre Township say they are investigating gunfire in the 700 block of East Northampton Street early Saturday morning.

Police responded to the shooting in the Georgetown section just after 1:30 a.m. when two people fired shots at each other. One of the shooters fled prior to officers arriving at the scene.

Detectives with the Wilkes-Barre Township Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police at Wilkes-Barre are investigating.

There were no reports of anyone being injured in the shooting, police reported.
