Brandon Copp of Brule became the third member of his family to win a Northern Nationals race, which he did in a dramatic WISSOTA Modifieds feature at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Copp, whose father Don and uncle John have also won the event, started from row four but moved into the top four by the 19th lap, then took third two laps later. In front, a battle between front-row starters J.T. Johnson and Cody Carlson allowed Copp to make up ground.

With three laps to go, Copp made his play for the lead and sneaked past Carlson for an eventual win of 1.17 seconds.

Joey Jensen of Forest Lake, Minnesota made a little history on Saturday, becoming the first person to win two features in the same year. He’d never won at the event before.
