MICHIGAN CITY — Police say a suspect is in custody in the wake of yet another shooting as escalating gun violence continues in the city.

Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Sunday to the bp gas station at 1302 E. Michigan Blvd. where one person had been injured by gunfire, according to the department.

The victim had reportedly travelled to the nearby police station seeking assistance.

"Victim is currently receiving treatment at the hospital," police said in their last update late Sunday night. "A suspect has been located and is currently being detained for questioning."

Police said there is no known threat to the public.

The same gas station was the site of a shooting July 12 that left 20-year-old Jordan Rose dead.
