In the early September, HSO has always tried to have a free concert at Chautauqua Park in Hastings every year. It was no different for their celebration of 100 years of playing together.
This year’s conductor, Tyler White, begins his third season as the music director. White has also conducted for UNL for the last 31 years.
As a conductor, White is able to find local talent anywhere and this year, he found it in Grand Island. A senior from Grand Island Senior High, Michael Westervy, has played under White for the last three seasons.
