Vancouver park board commissioner Brennan Bastyovanszky is calling for a legal review of fellow commissioner Marie-Claire Howard’s attendance record, asking whether her repeated absences from board meetings may warrant disqualification from her role.

“At park board meetings, decisions are made. When an elected official isn’t around, it impacts the quality of those decisions,” he told Postmedia News. “It leaves the people who voted for that commissioner without a voice.”

Bastyovanszky, a former commissioner on Mayor Ken Sim’s ABC Vancouver slate who now sits as an independent, has tabled a motion for the Sept. 15 board meeting that questions Howard’s ability to fulfil her duties.
