The Department for Work and Pensions has explained how it handles people who are not able to fulfill certain requirements as part of the Universal Credit application process, specifically those who are not able to do a face-to-face identity verification check which is usually carried out at their local Jobcentre.

In a written statement , Liberal Democrat MP Lisa Smart questioned what accommodations would be available for people with severe mental health conditions or physical disabilities to assure they wouldn’t be penalised for noting being able to attend this check in-person.
