The work of Jacory “Bill” Croskey-Merritt after joining the Washington Commanders in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on April 26 help convince the team that it could part with Brian Robinson Jr .
The Commanders traded the former Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and Alabama standout and Washington’s leading rusher in each of the past three seasons to the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 22.
In the Commanders’ opening game on Sunday, Croskey-Merritt responded with his first NFL touchdown. The former Sidney Lanier High School and Alabama State standout scored on a 6-yard run as Washington took a 14-3 lead over the New York Giants with 6:14 left in the first half.
After compiling 1,361 rushing yards, 382 receiving yards, 378 kickoff-return yards, 231 punt-return yards and 10 touchdowns as a Mon
