Winsted man dies in hit and run crash

WINCHESTER, Connecticut — A Winsted man died after hit and run crash Saturday afternoon.

Police said Steven Gibbons, 67, of Winsted died from his injuries.

Police said they were called at 2:42 p.m. to the area of 143 North Main Street for a bicyclist that may have been involved in a motor vehicle crash.

When officers arrived, they located Gibbons, the operator of the bicycle, who was unresponsive and began life saving medical care. No other vehicles at the scene were involved or witnessed what occurred, according to police.

Gibbons, according to police, was taken to the Hartford HealthCare HealthCenter in Winsted where he later died.
