MANISTEE — A single-engine plane pilot and his passenger survived a crash landing into a tree.

The crash happened at 9:40 a.m. Sunday when the Beulah pilot was en route to Silver Lake from Thompsonville, according to the Manistee County Sheriff's Office. Responders, including Grand Traverse Metro Fire, found the plane "wedged" in a tree and leaking fuel in the 18000 block of Tomasek Road.
