After nearly a week on leave in wake of a student fight captured on video, Paul Jackson returned Monday as principal of Scotlandville High.

That news did not come from the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, but from Metro Councilman Anthony Kenney, whose District 2 includes Scotlandville.

In a news release sent out Monday morning, Kenney thanked Superintendent LaMont Cole, saying the two had “productive and collaborative discussions regarding the future of Scotlandville Magnet High School and the vital role of Principal Jackson’s leadership.”

“Let’s continue the momentum of support for our students and staff in the future to come. Scotlandville is not an option — it is an opportunity,” wrote Kenney, a graduate of the high school at 9870 Scotland Avenue.
